I recently realised that while I've heard alot about omar s I didn't really know much of his music. A friend sent me striders world and I am unbelievably blown away by this tune...on his website I see he's got mp3s up for download, has anyone got any reccomendations for me? Thanks.

"Day" is a club banger that turned me and many other people on to him. Think Phylyps Trak II with Supremes sample. I like "Inside My Head" also.

yeh i read that interview...prickly. And i know, i wanted to go to subclub when he was playing but couldn't, and then even though he was playing fabric when i was there I skipped him for other stuff. Live and learn eh?

Omar S is making some of the most interesting music around these days as far as I'm concerned, kind of in the same vein as Theo Parrish. The 'Just Ask The Lonely' cd that 'Striders World' is on is a good one to check out. Anything on his FXHE label is worth a listen.

Nice interview, not afraid to call things as he sees them it seems. If he sounds like Theo I'll definatly be checking him out, hadn't heard of him before.

Is this available somewhere? Love theo! There was a very eclectic set of his on samurai.fm and his interview on rbma is great.

I've got a nice mix that Theo Parrish did on the Gilles Peterson show at the end of last year. Strange contemporary Jazz mixed in to fucked up recent Theo type stuff. I'd upload it for you but I'm on holiday at the moment. Give me a fortnight:p

I've also got a Cd by Omar S which is a mix of early/ mid 90's deep house. It's been sourced from a chewed up tape so the sound quality is poor compared to most CDs but the selection is pretty good. Another two weeks... It's not representative of Omar as a producer though. He did a guest mix on mary anne hobbs but it wasnt amazing, it has to be said

He's actually done three tracks (that I know of) with Theo and they are all choice. The first one was the acid-y monster that was the T.O.M. Project 12" with Theo and Marcellus Pittman. He "engineered" the track "Synthetic Flemm" on Theo's newest 3x12" and Theo played percussion on Omar's newest 12" on his FXHE label. All of these receive my highest recommendation. I have five of his 12"s from his FXHE label and I would actually recommend them all. Definitely an exciting new-ish face on the scene.

which release is that? "It Can Be Done But Only I Can Do It" is £13.99 on Juno

Love Omar's stuff. Sounds like nothing else for me. Def recommend the Fabric Live CD and the Oasis Collabarating LP is worth having just for Oasis 13-1/2.

this ain't bad neither....
