Smoking IS cool.

I enjoy smoking when I'm drinking but it's basically pointless, isn't it?

Maybe some people feel high off it but I never have.

The only thing smoking has ever done for me physically is suppress my appetite. still like to do it when drinking though, in a molloy-and-his-stone-sucking-system type of way.

I associate the smell of it with socialising at night. Something was burning in my toaster the other day and and it instantly transported me back to house parties.

That's another aspect of the changing views on smoking. You can't even smoke in a lot of people's flats or houses anymore. They'll ask people to at least do it out the window, if not go in the garage or outside. Nobody wants their house stunk up or the landlord taking issue.

theres a bar near my place supposedly run by 'the mafia' that you can smoke inside of. Another spot back in texas due to strange zoning laws also allowed for smoking inside. it feels like going to a themed spot- 'hey lets go to the tiki bar tonight wouldnt that be fun'

A friend of mine has a vape for smoking weed these days. And it's shit. You can't feel it hit your throat. Sure you get stoned but that's not the point, clearly.

I've done some pretty desperate things to get high, but I've never smoked bread.

I smoked from late teens until about early 30s, but not heavily (a pack would last 4-5 days, mostly enjoyed after a meal or when drinking). I found hangovers were worse when I smoked, polluting your body with a combination of both alcohol and tar/nicotine made recovery much slower.

you also save a shit ton on money when you quit. cigs were a couple of dollars a pack for many years but then prices skyrocketed, think they're $7-10 a pack now depending on the brand. how the hell can a teenage kid afford to smoke nowadays?

i smoked loads of fags over the last 2 weeks, loved it. i think it relaxes you. especially with a lovely cold glass of sweet lager in the hot sun. unbeatable. the kids have swapped cancer for anxiety.

but definitely not something i can do long-term. i'm not getting into vapes.

Right now I am sat on the balcony. The sky is totally blue but if you stare at it long enough you can start to make out gradations from the deepest shade directly over head, in the distance the Tagus is sparkling its own darker shade of blue, cut through in parts by slashes of green islands and bounded almost at the horizon by the white rooves of Alcochete, closer at hand Liza´s flowers running along the railing are half-heartedly fluttering in a breeze too gentle for me to feel, by my left hand is a cup of ice cold coffee - the scene is completed by the smoke rising languidly from an ultra-lite Karelia dangling from the first two fingers of my right.

As a rule I don't normally smoke during the day but right now it does feel just right, I need to go to the supermarket it in a sec but i simply can't get up.... each time I finish I light up a new one, it probably helps that they are so weak you can barely notice that you're smoking.

I actually smoked methyl cigs for awhile, long ago. can't imagine the damage those do...they seem smooth, but it's added chemicals on top of the tar/nicotine, right?

woops

surely you mean menthol?! there can't be a smokable form of methylated spirits can there?

Hmmm, I never thought about that actually. A lot of people here seem to smoke those ones that have that button near the filter which you can press to make it menthol if you like. In fact they seem to sell a lot of those, to the extent that I often find myself buying them or smoking them by accident. Presumably until you press that button you are not being hit by any extra chems though right?
