I thought it was a foul at first... then I saw the replay and realised he just fell over and gave him a free header. In fairness a few slipped so may have been a dodgy surface. That Wales goal though...
Nicely worked goal. I remember the bad times when England would be nil nil with SM until the second half and then get a few at the end cos of superior fitness, so actually happy to see them pass through them like that - as you would expect a load of top level players to do against a bunch of part-timers.
Also pleased with the ease that Sterling and Mount are running past players. Again, as it should be, but I remember seeing England 'stars' repeatedly coming off second best to the guy who drove the San Marino bus to the game.
The thing that cost us that year was the Koeman foul on Platt. Outrageous and disgusting decision that still annoys me now, worse than the hand of God thing where he just missed it, this time the ref saw it and blew and just chose not to apply the rules. I'm getting angry now just thinking about it even though it was 28 years ago.
Got a Fluminense shirt from 20something years ago in a drawer upstairs
Our Hoops bus had a ‘random shirt’ plot for a while where the winner got free drinks all day. It ended when my brother wore a rugby league club jersey from Australia and uproar from the senior committee of alcoholics
Porto scored a good goal too against Chelsea, love the Guardian commentator saying "It was a bit shit, it came off his shin" and then I watched it on youtube and it was an amazing overhead volley direct from a cross... maybe he didn't catch it a hundred percent right but fucking hell what more do you want?
PSG went through on away goals after losing 1-0 at home. I think they were worth it though, should really have got the decisive goal today, loads of chances on the break and denied by the post, the bar, the flag etc etc
