I see Ramos not selected for Euros...
I listened to most of it in the way back from a bike race - the parochial nature of the bbc coverage was shocking/ not surprising (delete where applicable) Resorting to lazy cliches about Spanish football and one commentator referring to Utd as ‘we’ throughout.Despite the fact that I'm supposed to be a Man Utd fan I completely forgot that this game was on and totally missed it, using the time instead to get my arse well and truly kicked at squash. In this respect I am the worst football fan in the world, I never know when games are coming up, they always just kind of appear totally to my surprise. Have you ever seen that sketch by Armando Iannuci in which he can't understand how every man in the pub with him (and by extension every man in the world) is somehow privy to football knowledge..... until he realises that every man except him has an earpiece which is connected by wires to a bunker underneath the pub staffed by football experts who literally tell them what to say? He cuts the wire and they all immediately become as ignorant as he is. It's funny cos I don't really feel that in general, but when games are on is a huge blind spot for me. I got back from squash and logged in to whatsapp and realised a large group of my friends were all watching it and discussing it as though had been born with the knowledge that the game was going to be on and so on, I felt instantly as though I had failed some kind of manhood test.
Yes, I noticed that; pretty sure they used to try to appear impartial.the parochial nature of the bbc coverage was shocking/ not surprising (delete where applicable) Resorting to lazy cliches about Spanish football and one commentator referring to Utd as ‘we’ throughout.
Talking about United's lack of leaders and Ferdinand interjects with "But who's the leaders in Villarreal's squad."
Maybe 36 year old World Cup, European Championship winner, Raul Albiol, Mario Gaspar, who has played with Villarreal for the best part of 10 years, even Carlos Bacca has played at World Cups, and has won this competition before. It seems their only research was "Villarreal is a small city in Spain with 50,000 people"
Classic English punditry. Absolutely no research or diligence done, just vibes and "in my day" takes.
I remember seeing Sheringham in the studio before an England game and going "I don't know much about x" and I was thinking he's getting paid like 10k to sit on his arse and pontificate, can't he just do a tiny bit of research.
You saw that interview with Zlatan aboutBald cunt
I always think of this cos there is a (bald) guy in our village who suddenly accosted me in the street and started having a go at me (in very good English so he did have the right person) about some incident where presumably we'd tangled while driving (long forgotten by me apparently). After that I refer to this guy as my bald enemy in reference to the Zlatan interview, and whenever I see him walking his dog I´ll say to myself or anyone else who is present, there he is scratching his bald head". If we walk past each other we give each other like a hard stare as we approach although we both now tend to dissolve in giggles by the time we pass so it's not that serious."Guardiola was staring at me and I lost it. I thought, 'there is my enemy, scratching his bald head!' I yelled: 'You haven't got any b***s!' and worse than that I added: 'You can go to hell!' I completely lost it, and you might have expected Guardiola to say a few words in response, but he's a spineless coward."
