Approx four years ago travelling to Chelyabinsk I landed at Yekaterinburg Airport - a World Cup group was based there & there were many Swedish & Mexican fans, the atmosphere was friendly though, in fact they all joined together in a rousing chorus of Fuck Germany... between em I guess they did. This time round it's Japan.

Germany should be worried...
In the euros last year Spain had a lot of possession, elegant movement and good shape but they struggled hugely to find the back of the net, even when they won the world cup - in, what 2010 - they scored 8 goals in the whole tournament, but this time they've started with 7 in the first game. Their biggest ever world cup win. Now if it turns out that they have finally found a way to add end product to all that beautiful faffing about then they could be a problem. Even Morata scored today, he's often been the absolute embodiment of what I mentioned above. He's obviously a gifted player with great touch, movement, brain etc but also he completely lacked the composure that good strikers have - which means that they can draw on all their abilities when they need them - never mind the killer instinct that great strikers have. I didn't see the game today but I suppose the fact that he popped up to get one when they were already six to the good isn't necessarily evidence that he has overcome that.

I really hate the German team. Everything about them bothers me. Sane's beard. That guy Fullkrug's face. Goretzka's face as well. Rudiger's personality. Always hated Muller too.

Annoying that they'll go through now, really had my hopes up.

So at 1500 there are two games NL v Qatar and the other half of the group, which is Ecuador v Senegal.... the first game is almost a dead rubber with Qatar already out and NL only needing a draw against the team ranked millionth in the world to go through, while the other is a delicately balanced match between two exciting teams with a guaranteed place in the next round for the winner and the loser going home, and a few possible permutations if it's a draw. Guess which game Portuguese tv has chosen to show?
