Boozeless cold remedies

Returning to cold remedies again, induced sweating (via the methods already suggested, but also by consuming extremely spicy foods - chilli and jalapeno and curry peppers, mustard, ginger, garlic, etc ] can of course help, by circulating moisture, flushing out the virus, and cooling the body from the effects of inflammation, but the problem here is that you must immediately and rapidly replace all the fluids and vital minerals (especially zinc) lost in perspiration to prevent dehydration, as the latter only makes matters worse. Plus massive amounts of Vitamin C, still the primary agent for beating off the virus.

yes!

Re: Male Sweat Boosts Women's Hormone Levels

so forget 100 euro bottles of prada cologne, not showering for a couple of days is what women prefer :D

Just want to say i got shot of one of those severe feverous 'am i on acid?' colds yesterday using Zhao's brightly coloured veg + garlic method. I don't have juicer so I did a huge salad covered in lemon, and couscous with chilli & about 1/2 bulb of garlic in. I felt better within about 30 mins of finishing it and today i feel well on the mend. At the small expense of eating one of the most disgusting meals of my life.

Just want to say re what someone was saying about using medication to treat the symptoms, only time I do this is when the symptoms are stopping me sleeping. Nothing canes the immune system like losing sleep, so if you need to medicate to get a decent nights rest then do it. It's an acceptable trade off.

nice! when i get a cold i juice or eat so much garlic that it upsets my stomach, and gives me bad breath for the entire day but it's so worth it.

i had a massive chilli madras last night, eating loads of citrus fruits and feeling better today. still got the pulled muscle in the chest though from the coughing. wonder how long that will last?

yeah my flu/colds tend to work it's way from head to lungs - first it's headache and then the sore throat and ends with coughing... it's been so bad in the past it keeps me up at night. at times like those i always think i'll never smoke anything ever again -- but we all know what happens after getting well

if you put garlic in your hot lemon and honey, along with root ginger (which you absolutely should), check out what happens to the garlic a little while later if you leave it in the bottom of the mug... it turns blue!!

drink ridiculous amounts of water and sleep as much as possible, i say..

i would also like to add that in my experience chicken noodle soup=jewish nectar. make it using your own stock... there's just something about boiled-up chicken-bone water, it's so much more powerful.

incidentally one of my three soup recipe books says that chinese chicken noodle soup is known in folklore for having restorative powers too. can anyone confirm?

You can combine the awesome powers of chicken soup and spicy food by making tom yam gai, which has to be the ultimate cold-food. Plus it's pretty great to eat when you don't have a cold, too.

Damn, I want some tom yam gai now.

I believe toxins leave the body in urine as a result of well-understood processes involving the kidneys, liver and gut, rather than being 'squeezed out' of the muscles...

This is, obviously, the correct answer.

It's not "magic"

PS you can sweat out waste, but it's still part of a process that involves the liver, kidneys, pancreas, etc.

this thread is fantastic. Thank you. One more bit of advice. Don't mistakenly take Daytime cold and flu remedy at night. It was only after five hours that I realised it was the 50mg of caffeine that was keeping me awake.
