The tracks sound produced around 130 and they get played pitched up to 132, 133. Gotta leave room for all that nice drumwork.

vis a vis this whole "say no to wonky" thing, i actually really like the name wonky house for a genre. You know people are losing it when they're talking about how house "should" sound. I really like that marcus nasty set posted upthread as well...I really feel like this movement is starting to deliver on its promises.

I'm a big fan of Tim's "Ruff House" idea, but that wasn't meant to apply to this music.

He was talking about mixing Stever Gurley remixes of Basement Jaxx with DJ Sneak and that would sort of sound like funky, I guess.

the dj at 'club motherfucker' at barden's last night - which i understood to be a indie/pop/electro type night - was playing funky, for most of his two hours. very confused to hear it in that context, a sweaty indie club, but no bad thing. it was going down well with the crowd too.

Bang On!

Made me chuckle that. I wonder if that crew are aware of / what they make of the whole Dancemania / Underground Construction axis... I imagine em tryna tell off a load of Chicago natives 'thats not propa house!'

Marshell Jeffersons mates all told him that 'Move Your Body' weren't REAL HOUSE music when he made it... cos it had pianos in!!!

Tryna control shit is a sure fire way to fail...

Was driving back from Notts on Saturday and Trevor Nelson played that ''(bum) the whole night'' tune Blackdown played which previously I was nonplussed on and I've got to say its pretty infectious.

Is funky going to be pretty prevalant at Notting Hill Carnival this year?

How reliable are uptown? I wouldn't mind getting some of this on vinyl but i've not bought from there before.

reliable in my experience, never had a problem with them

re bpm, i think Apple's stuff is mid-130s, not certain though. don't know about anything else though

that Circle thing is weak, fair play (i guess?!) if they want to retain certain vibes in the dances, but the musical conservatism is pretty ridiculous

werent people calling ketted up choppy minimal 'wonky house' a couple of years ago? you think theyd have found an original name for this bollocks by now.

Marcus Nasty's on at the egg on friday when im out doin my birthday ravings so it'll be nice to see how this does it in the club

It seems interest is really picking up now!

I'm gutted about EGG, I'm out of the country for the weekend otherwise I definetely would have reached. Looking at various myspace pages it seems that there are more and more events being put on, some in preparation for Napa I guess. Perhaps this year's holiday season will manage to create even more exposure for the sound than last year.

Mentor Roska's Climate Change EP is out soon, sounds heavy.

Also this is good: JMC ft Remi Ma – Get Money (Footloose On Safari Mix)
He might play it tonight I guess.

DJ Petchy comes recommended too.
