Do not read this.
In the context i think it’s meant to mean new releases mainly. That’s how I’ve always used it anyway.

edit i think originally though it was meant to describe the 'up front' beat of house

obviously it’s ALL just boring deep house though

I try and remember that I'll always not clock everything that's going on, no matter how hard I try. Today's backwater is tomorrow's big thing. That's how I felt when I first heard about funky and realised it's emergence, like in this supa d sleevenotes interview. that interview mentioned invasion crew btw, who are on that flyer I posted.

not feelin this electro-y EP nearly as much as Rainforest, which was brilliant.

and the new Lil Silva Club Constructions Vol. 2 --   :roll eyes:

please dear Ancient African Gods do not let Funky go the way of Blog-Electro-Midrange-Funkless-Puke.

Its not an ep

what element of Crystal Meth / Speed is electro style.

Barely even funky I just posted in here for jokes

well i don't mean electro like electro. i mean using electro-y midrange bloggy-blog-blog sounds.
i mean an over indulgence in Justice type bro-house, frat-bass, and digi-distortion for drunk students.

you are right it's "barely even funky"

and this SINGLE is not the best example, only headed in that direction.
the Lil Silva EP is much more guilty. to the point of unlistenable.

crystal meths sort of between funky, brostep and grime. def harder than his earlier stuff (like comparing phaze 2 era benga to earlier benga) which was more like dark garage/funky rollage. but its still funky. i dont know if marcus has been playing it but its not like it would sound that out of place considering he plays tracks like that track with the godzilla sample. it is a bit bigger and dumber but the speed b-side is more typical funky (sounds like old wiley too).

the new lil silva is just a continuation of those tunes like cheese and bun. more abstracted funky. like what scratcha was doing. def not the same as the champion single.

i wouldnt mind if these releases werent quite so 'loud' though - thats my main problem with them. had that same problem with recent ill blu. sounds like its on the verge of distortion.

if you listen to the champion on redeye rather than the youtube clip it doesnt sound quite so abrasive.

nah, i think these types of tunes have been in and out of funky for a while. if guys like redlight can be played in a funky set, then something like crystal meth isnt all that different, it might just get a few more students into funky. :p
