so pleased that the Aphrodisiax EP came out at last, Unfinished Business is so heavy. it has a very interesting vibe... clearly UK in the ruffness, but then very close to some new deep house or even some of the more intricate and organic European techno from the last few years

the b-side with the spoken word vocal was a pleasant surprise too, got to love a vocal like that! "house is a religion..." lol

Yep, the rougher edge of broken too

If anyone has any suggestions for broken or deep house or european techno that has similar vibes please tell me, also.

I just dont know
the european techno i had in mind was the Cadenza lot primarily, not only in the percussion but particularly the melodic sensibility, that kind of delicate wonderment. much less rough and chunky, but thats where the uk thing comes in...

this is going to look long but the first half of this show has a lot of my (and Bilal's) favourite stuff in that vein. if you like it just let me know and i can up a tracklist

the deep house i was thinking of is stuff like Boddhi Satva, Afefe Iku, Yoruba in general, Kentphonik, DJ Gregory, Africanism etc

You're definitely right about Cadenza, I'd think that recent Argenis Brito release on there would fit with Funky pretty well.

Other suggestions would be Marco Carola's the Tribe from last year, its not on Cadenza but it fits that sort of vibe perfectly.

And I'm really enjoying stuff on Black Coffee's Soulistic Music right now, Culoe De Song and Black Coffee himself in particular.

Culoe's stuff is a little less poly-rhythmic but man is it deep. This track is on Innervisions though.

move down low / loser on pre-order at redeye... big up grievous (bubblez?)
Yeah they're quick off the mark, I don't think it's even pressed yet. Master sounds alright. Good tunes.

Bubblez is the alternate identity for the funky bootz. Hold tight for the Ice Rink refix, going to a select few later this week...

i think geiom deserves a mention in this thread now, his funky stuff is heavy, dunno exactly what tempo these are at:

hard downs
no more tears
sugar coated lover
lame car

The backing is like Roska making techno with Riko bars over the top. Just need to make the hats a bit louder and it's there. Bit long though, five and a half minutes.

Mos Dan sent me a radio rip of G Money's When I'm Ere refix. Now THAT'S a tune! Glad I didn't hear it before doing my thing.

so so so excited.

also yes, geoim is great- he's really on it right now, has been for a while. underrated in every regard. future fact mix showcasing a lot of his new stuff which is heavy- i think his plan is to release a berkane sol 12" every month from now on.
