thanks Benny, enjoying this!

funky really is a very local scene. it's shame that it's seen as a temporary fad (or then it's just a feeling i have) 'cos it didn't got solid following globally like junge/dnb/dubstep. Also it seems funky was just used for step to post-funky/dubstep. Listening to Petchy's sets shows that funky has found itself more and got more solid, and most importantly, there is explosive energy and enthusiasm which shows there is people who strongly believe in this sound.

Luka - so you're obviously been in these proper non-Shoreditch funky raves? how they've been? if i'd live in London i'd buy some big man clothes and shoes and visit these raves :D

Its a belting set. I really rate Hot-S as a funky MC and don't hear enough of him. Anyone know if he appears on any shows regularly?

Also, I need a track ID for the second tune in this set. Menacing 2-note grimey bassline and what sounds like a high pitched guitar strum. Pitched down voice tag says "This is a ....????". Also appears on that classic 20.3.10 set near the beginning. Its one of the best tunes for MCs I've ever heard in funky.

^Grabbing the goodies just now, cheers Benny!
Hope everyone had a good Christmas, still chilling with the parents here, going to attempt radio with their mildly dodgy internet connection tmr night, not sure how it will work out though.

gremino i live in sydney and have done for 4 years. however i first started going out to clubs in stratford, bow, romford, ilford etc and the best nights ive ever been too were the garage nights in stratford. all the beef stuff you hear about does exist but youre ubnlikely to see anything bad let alone be the victime of it. its like hooligan days again. if you're not involved in that life you will probably get left alone. the vast majority of people just dacing and having fun. very lively bubly atmosphere. theres a lot more knowledge of the music there than anywhere else and a more passionate engagement with it. remember these are the areas that have owned uk dance music for the last 20 years. its the hub.

Do not read this.
pretty much completely agree with luka.

I will say though Luka, the bouncers at If bar operate a 'no-smiling-or-looking-like-you-are-having-the-slightest-bit-of-fun policy'

if someone can ID this tune i heard on live around 5.45pm this evening i will owe them (what exactly im not sure, but a debt is a debt). it came on before house girls (which it fitted with amazingly well) and was basically really sparse and just seemed to be little more than three heavy 808 bumps/throbs repeated over and over. no idea what it was but it was seriously seriously hype. thought someone might know it - i dont as im out of touch with radio sets.
