funky needs some labels mannn..bit of infrastructure would do wonders

Its not straight forward, but hopefully people will just see the positive moves Marcus Nasty and Champion are doing then emulate them. Could be a good year for Funky next year if so.

To be honest running a digital label isn't that hard at all so Im surprised there isn't more labels, I think alot of producers just release their music themselves digitally. If your listening to all the radio shows and are clued up about whats new and making waves then its pretty easy to release something I think, its not like vinyl which takes way more effort, time and financing.

I wish Marcus would do vinyl for his label, digital only is a bit of a cop out really in my opinion. I respect Champion alot for doing vinyl.

generally i like sexy pop tunes with bongos but i don't like those 2... i've liked some dj kent stuff tho. i think sef kombo is a good dj, heard him a couple of times and i went to his night tiltwo which was a viiibe.. he played this which is sick.. tbh he plays alot of tunes that are already massive in SA.. like that liquideep stuff

OK I'm finding this much more consistently enjoyable than the last couple of times I've tried checking out Marcus. There's actually some tunes on here I kind of want IDs on which hasn't been the case so much lately. Nice one gumdrops.

^ Like that DJ Kent tune. The couple of times I checked out Finagprint when he was on Rinse his style maybe seemed a bit dull over 2 hours, need to get involved with Sef Kombo though. Does he have any mixes online?

Edit: yeah that Banane Mavoko tune is big.

Stolen from ILX - Cooly's still got it:
Think this is actually a collab with Karizma.
Landscapes on the other side is nice too but maybe not quite as strong:

Apparently the Devine releases have been pushed forward and they're already out, in the end it's 3 EP's, 6 singles, plus a retrospective album which includes 'People Keep Dancing' and one of the House Girls unreleased mixes. The singles include some of Mad One's best tunes as well (Baby Baby, the Bucket Heads remix, Licence, etc.)

Wow! Sooooo many great tunes on these. Might have to splash out on the lot this week. Quite a few I haven't heard before and plenty of classics if you've been listening to Live FM much over the last couple of years or so. I can definitely vouch for:

Tribal Conga
Baby baby
Dirty funk
People keep dancing
These sounds
Banging dem out
Brass
Licence
Only for you
My House (although on the clip, this sounds different from the one I've heard that samples New Horizons)

Devine have the strangest approach to releases out of anyone I can think of though.
