These are quite obviously grime tunes.

There is more swing and energy in these EPs than most things out right now. There are reasonably abrasive noises in them but to start lumping it in with brostep's lumpen drums is a bit far really.

not necessary lumping, just worried things may be heading in that direction

bro-funky = brunky

and remember my big ass hate post on blog-shit? on whitified, blogified, diploized, bro-sized "posh-boys-made turgid beats"? and remember i said night slugs gets a pass?

i take that pass back.

and that new hard house banton is epic facepalm.

1 step forward 3 steps back to conservative uninspired generic crap

roska's GTA is basically just an old grime tune with funky rhythms. its not as good as riko/geeneus' GTA though. i still like roska but most of roska 2 was pretty underproduced if more eclectic - hes become quite hit and miss. i think i liked all those more basic early tunes he did more though the track on the tectonic compilation was good (and heavy).

if the new hard house banton ep youre talking about is reinvented, then yeah, thats pretty bland.

yeah you could say most/old champion tracks didnt switch up very much but crystal meth actually does. its weird, i used to think funky tunes could maybe have more changes, but now i miss those old underproduced, low key tracks you had when the scene was new.

could say this for a lot of roskas stuff, same as crystal meth but sounds more bassline than funky.

blackdown i hear u and have read the article a cuple times. still i dnt think u man fully appreciate the shift to house. hard house banton brought out two funky tunes at the start of the year but he is clearly not making it no more.

funky is dead really and truly, i mean a lot of the names in here are either making distorted noisy shit or grime (champion, ill blu, roska), i guess there's a scene (whitecoat, lr groove, smoove kriminal etc) but that doesn't get posted up here cause its on radio not fact magazines home page

house and uk ppl making house is thriving, huxley is making bangers for fun, there's a ton of parties on and most importantly people are dancing. if u man dnt wanna accept ppl see it as a forward point (sorry "nuum") then u might as well close this thread cause all this "conversative blah blah crap", posting tunes by guys like walton (offensive plastic grime) and generally lazy discussion doesn't cut it.

That circle of guys who were running it dont seem to be doing much so these days. There's less radio shows and less releases/new music. They moved on I guess.

alex

Do not read this.
edit i havent heard him dj but someone said he is really good, tbh i was a bit of a kneejerk against his tunes earlier they're not too bad

Alex Arnout, now HE's been smashing it.
