i'm going to stay up, heavily booze and snack food assisted, and try and take it in. i may even place an ill-informed bet.

i'll be watching. i'm a huge NFL fan- the game usually stinks but after following the whole season- can't miss the ending. actually the games have been better in the last 5 years than they were all through the 90s

So really, what was with the all paul mccartney half-time show? I mean, no other artists, backing musicians were darkly lit, no choreographed dancing of any kind, just bloody paul mccartney singing old beatles songs. Really, I love the beatles as much as the next guy, but c'mon! has nothing of musical interest happened in the last 40 years?

It was funny when someone asked mccartney in a press conference what he thought about the fact that the beatles used to be all controversial and such and now they bring him in for "family values"

also, are they unaware that he isn't american? cuz all the red-white-and-blue stars-and-stripes visuals at half time seemed a bit odd on that note.

I always think it's kind of them to let some boys play a game of soccerball or whatever around the amazing concert they put on at this venue every year

Oh actually I think Mia made a v sign at the crowd? That's famous but not as famous as the nipple piercing

Justin Timberlake, who was already a terrible pop star, getting away with his part in the wardrobe function and having his career unscathed, is one of the most truly dismal moments of pop culture this century

It didn't scathe anyone's career though tbf. It was just an obvious and ill judged publicity stunt though who came up with it is anyone's guess. Some shadowy figure behind the scenes no doubt

yeah I do think it's silly to pretend Jackson's career wasn't already in a downward direction before this, but at the same time she took a LOT of criticism for it and Timberlake's never really been hit the same

I tried to watch it once but it's so fucking difficult. Really it is all about the tactics I guess, but there is so little action for the length of the game, it just doesn't work for fans who don't understand every detail. And I'm not interested enough to become that.
At a guess I'd imagine that American Football is a harder sell to the rest of the world than basketball and ice hockey and even baseball I assume?

Well obviously we think that cos we got football but there's little point in just saying "US sports are shit and need loads of cheerleaders and adverts and a half-time performance from a superstar to trick people into watching them".
