Yes, this one. I reacted like Denise Lewis does. What Colin Jackson is doing with his hands: a South Wales thing!

i'm honestly beginning to believe he could go under 19 seconds in the 200m, which would be incredible - half a second faster than anyone other than michael johnson will have run.

great summary of the race here. very interesting analysis, esp. with regards to drugs et al at the end. i feel like this could be the cleanest race i've seen in my lifetime?

Roll on Men's 200m and Women's Pole Vault!

Craner - what happened there in the pole vault? I kept on waiting for her to pull it out of the bag but it was like watching Idowu in the Long Jump last year!

Gay and Chambers unlikely to be in 200m now - will Bolt be arsed to go smash it up again?

I have no idea. What a massive fuck up!

I half adore Isinbayeva, and half hate her, which I think is right. It's not hard to understand why she'd be in such a state after that (straggley fringe all caught up in running mascara). Not only does this not happen to her, there's an awful lot of capital riding on her ongoing dominance. Besides which, it's more than a bit embarrassing.

Funny though, just before she deigned to enter the competition, while lying on the track having her usual pre-jump sleep, I was thinking, "you cool bitch."

Then she goes and does that!

interesting that the usain bolt wave is feeling it's way into the other events now - spaniard whips off her sweatband before the end of the race in the women's steeplechase, bekele starts doing his number one signs before the finishing straight (!!) and mimics the arrow shooting at the end.

And in other news - is Michael Johnson the coolest sports pundit around? Probably.

No contest. And Colin Jackson is the least cool, but most endearing.

True! And it's only started in this Champs. The Bolt effect! I love it. Bekele's little arrow was a stroke of genius, a perfect rejoinder to Bolt's bolt.

Last night's 10,000m was hardcore.

Absolutely - I'd just been out for a run and felt virtuous til i saw the way they ripped it up - 63 sec laps just killing the opposition

Now that Bolt has made smiling cool and done away with all that macho flexing, can it be long before the blokes start squealing like the Jamaican women in the 110m hurdles? That was like being in an office where it's everyone's birthday all the time.

horrible, horrible coverage speculating about Semenya before the women's 800 final. trial by tv is hideous. the iaaf guy was actually easily the most sane voice there, ironically given how they've put the gender test splash on the front page already.

i've been concentratng on the football, so mostly missed it. but surely the bbc couldn't not talk about it - the fault lies with the iaaf for announcing they're conducting a test before the race.

probably a typo on my part - didn't mean to say before, but before and especially after. When asked for their views upon her victory, comments of the ilk of "let's suspend our judgment until we know more". What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Sure, they can talk about it...jsut the way they talked about it wasn't great.

but yes, the iaaf have behaved despicably.

Get to see one of my favorite sprinters of all time flex over the next few days: Allyson Felix. Super.

I know we come to expect it but christ that was quick!

Bolt may well be the coolest man on the planet - I want him to marry Blanka Vlasic!
