i want to think bolt can dip under double 100, but just throwing the thought out there, could it potentially be that in this 'evolutionary development' that usain bolt runs 100m better than 200m? i don't believe it is, i reckon he can go under 19 secs, but hey

I'm too young to have enjoyed some of those. Seoul '88 is a child's memory (the scandal, mainly; but also the beautiful stadium). In fact Tokyo was the first games I remember being totally gripped by, probably because I was in junior county competitions by then.

Think I started early - can remember the European Cup in 1985, when i would've been 8. In fact watched as much athletics as football in the mid80s...

I think that's the kind of thign that can happen to any pole vaulter (did it not happen to Bubka once, tho not at a major champs?). you just get a bit too arrogant, and then discover you're on a bit of an off-day and could have done with the practice runs at a few easy heights.

I think she was bored stiff at the WC. But then she had a bit of a shock, so she went and did another world record.

And really, with two confirmed drug cheats ahead of her, that should really stand as the world record.

"BARCELONA FRENCH sprinting prodigy Christophe Lemaitre was crowned European 100m champion on Wednesday as controversial British veteran Dwain Chambers struggled home in fifth place.

The 20-year-old Lemaitre had shown what fine form he was in with a time of 9.98sec, the fastest ever by an athlete of European origin, at the French national championships three weeks ago. "

By an 'athlete of European origin'...um, that's the Qatar Tribune's take on things....i think they mean 'white person'.
