it does have a lot of hype to live up to, but the writing in some scenes -- like the one in the last episode of season three where avon and stringer are together on his balcony, reminiscing about their youth -- is damn near modern-day shakespearean.

lots of coke and smack laced with fentanyl now, causing more ODs that usual. no idea if that was the case here.

By the time I got to the final season, it was just depressing. Couldn't finish. That just happened reading Stoner too. At some point you just know the only direction it's going is "bleaker."

Always surprised that the Avon guy didn't do more stuff. Did that role as well as Stringer and is super handsome but Elba became a superstar and he... well he turns up every now and again I guess.

Did anyone else wish Bubbles would have just died (fictionally)? He iv’d endlessly and somehow made it through hiv, his mate fucking up, buying gear with fake money, becoming a free trader, getting ripped off/head filled in

Last series halfway through could’ve been the ideal time just to rupture any flow. More stark, more realistic, “it’s the hope that kills you“ etc

Not being misanthropic

Have to say that, as an American, it was painful to hear Elba try to do his accent. Comical at times.

Complete opposite with Dominic West, could have sworn he was Baltimore born and bred.
