what i think of as krust's 'big three' - soul in motion, true stories, future unknown

just the definition of futuristic, they still sound like that like 11 years or something after they were made.

Beast of Burden
blackdown album - margins music
black dog album - radio scarecrow
all the canonical 2562 / martyn gear
believe in dub mix cd (still sounding good!)
sp:mc - trust noone (wicked but why is the mastering so nasty?)

That Microphone champ is great:

.. that's why his live show is a shambles, don't wear shorts if you've got dry ankles, don't take pics if you got dry lips, I thought you knew that, it's like putting custard on chips, I been watching Ninjaman youtube clips..."

poooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllll up daaaaaaat

and where did you hear about skepta's obsession with ninjaman youtube clips first? before he had even written bars on the subject? why in woofah issue one, of course. brapbrapbrap!!!!

i have been enjoying a wealth of great grime this past couple of weeks - micropone champion, john and paul's blogariddims, logan's oneaway cd, and grime wave.

also some sun-friendly indieschmindie in the form of saturday looks good to me.

SO LOUD!!!

Literally twice as loud as anything else. The sound just turns to mush. I really want this to be one of the signature reviews in Woofah 3 (it can't ALL be ramadanman) but... it just sounds too heavy. There's more articulation in the Youngsta rinse podcasts, which are compressed to fuck. Dreadful.

Just discovered my new favourite tune, 'Its good to have the feeling you're the best' by Tippa Irie'. Picked it up on a total whim last week (tucked away on a b-side) and its been putting a big grin on my face ever since :)

And also, regardless of its musical merits, that new Alphabeat song '10,000 nights of thunder' has been keeping me amused

classic stuff. also like the genetic manipulation ep... which ramps into the tracks you list. a bit more raw jazz and less epic / dystopian soul.

have to include warhead too. i mean the track does so little but on a decent system it's great. the sound design / engineering really stood out for the time.

Tempa need to sort themselves out and either stop using Heathmans or give them a telling, cos they are brutalising every track getting released to the point that i dont want to play them or listen to them

They mourn the end of that era. The first time I heard one of those 3 - can't remember which - I said "it sounds like everythings decaying"...

not bumping or owt, but the synth coming in at 2.20 on scuba's 'suck' is a thing to enjoy. its like a glimpse of light as you resurface after being deep underwater.
