No Future for the GOP?

The Year of Living Stupidly

all you folks in the UK should be thankful you aren't subjected to months (non-stop?) of campaigning, paid for by unlimited spending from big business and special interest groups. stupidity reins in comments on political stories, so many utter boneheads incapable of having any sort of rational discussion.

GOP is set to take over the senate in today's midterms. obama can still veto their bills (since they'll most likely have a majority but not the 60 votes needed to overturn a veto), but look for climate science deniers to head environmental and energy committees, subpoena power to call everyone they don't like into hearings, etc. on the upside, the more ridiculous they are in the coming year+, the worse they will lose in 2016.

Has Ted Cruz mania gone international? Are any people outside the country following Ted Cruz? Ted Cruz is scary smart, and has a team of scary smart speechwriters and pollsters and strategists? Ted Cruz plays games with his opponents, he wins when he loses, and he picks the place where he fights.

Not quite, it seems the GOP are looking for "oldies" once more. Unbelievably, Jeb Bush is cranking up his machine and it looks serious. There could be a Bush vs. Clinton fight on the cards once again. Amazing.

The crazy thing is that out of the entire Bush family, Jeb is probably the smartest, best qualified and most reasonable of the lot. I wouldn't vote for him, but he's better than Pops and bro.

Even funnier is that Mitt Romney has become more popular with many in the GOP since his 2012 defeat and just might become one of those "oldies" who, for the third time, throws his hat into the ring.

As well he might, or even will, I agree.

It's well known around here, mind, that I think W. is underrated. I have an open mind for Jeb. I think their father is one of the most overrated characters in American politics, however.

GOP looking pretty fucked now... Matt Gaetz being investigated for trafficking under age women, fifty thousand suits about to land on Trump, the Dominion and Smartmatic suits about to crush the life out of Fox, Newsmax, OAN and so on as well as the individuals involved. Crazy times. All they're concentrating on is about fifty different vote suppression laws - is that really all they have in the tank?

definitely in a pickle but probably not THAT fucked. they still hold most state legislatures and governorships, gained House seats last year and are tied in the Senate.

and as much as I enjoy watching scandals like the Gaetz thing, it's a distraction. he doesn't hold any real power, just a big mouth. been kind of an outcast in the House since trump left and lots of his own GOP colleagues have already stuck the knife in because they think he's a showboating ass (albeit anonymously).

Just did a weird interview with Tucker Carlson - in fact that was Tucker's words, it's the weirdest interview he's ever done. Also doesn't he refer to his exes brother as his son or something very odd too?

And projection. You can pretty much always tell what they're gonna be busted doing by what they are accusing the Dems of at the mo.
