Read Comments on the Society of the Spectacle recently; first half's a scalpel, second's perhaps a bit too vague and paranoid. He was very isolated by that point, in the depths of alcoholism, and it's dedicated to Lebovici, whose assassins were never found, so it's not hard to see where he was coming from with all the talk of imposters and secret plots. It's a bit difficult to follow the thread beyond a certain point though.

Actually we at Lobby3 are hosting a hackathon at a big web3 conference this month, and I named it after the situationist concept of detournement.

@suspended are you going to ETH Denver?

One of the founders was a Danish artist, Asger Jorn, our most famous post-war painter. He was influential in the early years of the movement and apparently responsible for the idea of "triolectics", the lesser known upgrade to dialectics.

Don't know what to make of his paintings though.

I'm not! I'm on a year-long work sabbatical. Graphic looks good though. Situationism is very in these days! I wonder what it means. Return of the 60s, maybe

I'm sure situationism was rerun about 25 years ago as well, with all the Psychogeography. Looping 60s generational rehash but maybe you guys can do something with it.

We literally had these same conversations on here around the time I started posting regularly, 2017 or so. Totally understandable why luka and others go mad all the time from the frequent reruns going on.

The concepts are very good aren't they, detournement and recuperation, which woops helpfully pointed out to me when I did my potted personal history of my own tangles with the concept.

This is about the 3rd time I remember it being rerun or revived. I remember Channel 4 doing a week of shows about the influence of '68 in what I'd guess would've been '88, the 20 year anniversary. Remember noting about them beyond that though. But Tom Vague was reviving situationism in Vague in the early/mid 80s, Larry Law was publishing Spectacular Times. There's the Pistols and McLaren link 10 years earlier, Stuart Home's book Assault on Culture. I used to get an American mag called Anarchy: A Journal of Desire Armed that was republishing Raoul Vanegeim's book, chapter by chapter.

I used to get a Situationism fanzine from a bloke called Rick Turner in Liverpool which is how I first got in contact with Jon. That would've been around 91 maybe?
