One of my first memories of non Bob Marley reggae if you know what I mean was a cassette with this song on that a friend gave me way back in t ime. Oddly it came up on the local pirate the other day and brought back some ancient memories. Whatta tune.

Anyway what Im getting around to asking is what is the name of the rythym and are there any other songs that use the same one ?

Riddim is "If I follow my heart'. I think the original was an early 70's Dennis Brown tune produced by Cosxone. There's a DJ cut from Trinity and an instrumental by sound Dimension, and almost certainly a dub somewhere.

Whats the skinny on the tune from 09 called duggu duggu or something?

What are the biggest vocals of it? Who made it?

Heatwave did a cool Joyride riddim (or remixes) mix segment btw on their show if you lot missed it..

Not too sure where to post this but I guess here will do . . .

Its just a quick interview with UB40 about the 1981 recession. Some people may diss em but they've I got a soft spot for them.

"James Brown and Brian Travers of Birmingham-based pop band UB40 compare the current recession to 1981 when they released their anti-unemployment anthem One In Ten"

Oh and a question. Another unknown tune from an old tape. Quite an eerie tune from late 70's/early 80' possibly. Chorus something like

'How can a man be tougher than the world, tougher than the world'
...something about 'tougher than creation'
...something 'tribulations of life'

I should really buy a tape deck and listen to all these old tapes.

Google reckons that might be from Alton Ellis' "Cry Tuff" but that was 60s...

Darned cockwombles.

Can i just throw this out there as one of my favourite reggae tunes ever. My vote for reggae's finest singer (well, top three) and Mikey Dread thrown in on this version too... I was so thrilled when i heard this at carnival a few years ago, I'd assumed it was quite obscure...maybe it is...

Another undeniable singing voice from heaven, backed by a producer from around there too...

And speaking of Mikey Dread, this is hands down one of the finest songs to blast out on a glorious summer's morning. Heartbroken but defiantly transcendent...

How can an island of 3 million have given so much to the musical world...beggars belief really.
