Although I'm mostly ignorant of AGCG's oeuvre post-Juice Box, his music - esp the seminal proto/jungle highlights of '91-'96 - remains quintessentially original and has aged considerably better than most. To this end I was pleased to read the following on a site dedicated to releasing Gerald's recordings:

"This is my ongoing art project. Instead of releasing some sort of retrospective compilation of 21 years A Guy Called Gerald I've decided to make all of my music available here - past and present. I've noticed people have uploaded music that I thought everyone had forgotten about on youtube. But the quality on youtube is rubbish as people have digitised from their vinyls. I wanted to make sure people had access to the way that it was intended to sound - the equivalent of a director's cut. The sound on the original releases had to be compromised to fit on the vinyl - due to heavy "b-lineage". So now I'm opening the vaults and dusting off the old masters. Thankfully I recorded everything originally on DAT.

Enjoy.
A Guy Called Gerald"

In addition to the hens-teeth-rare back catalogue reissues (a 320kbps of 'Cops' for pocket change? Shiiit..) previously unreleased tunes are available and new material is posted as it is recorded.
A lush new track called Vulcan Love Dance proves that Simpson's genius remains.

Ach!

Turd on the Run
I can't believe he's done this!

Anything Can Happen, original, straight from the DAT...

Frustrating interview / lecture though. I wanted to hear about the nitty gritty of putting BST together or something. Surely everyone at those things wants to hear the nerdy shit? All the stuff about Manchester / UK history and industry navigation is so general why get Gerald to talk on that?

The problem is the interviewer is more concerned with downing a can of red bull, is German and has no idea about Gerald's background apart from a quick look over his Wikipedia entry.

We need somebody like Wogan doing them or maybe Parkinson.

yeah, i've watched a bunch of those rbma interviews and that particular interviewer is one of the lesser ones.
i think gerd jansen is generally pretty astute, though; there's defintely some better hosts
also it seems like the artists can bring whatever they want to the lecture. maybe they're not assigned to give a speech on anything in particular. agcg seemed pretty nervous and definitely seemed to lack a clear outline, which would have been helped by the host.

the interviewer's good, but mostly with the hiphop stuff (so when he knows what he's talking about)

the Goldie lecture on there is very interesting, although Goldie often completely fails to answer the guy's questions and goes off on huge tangents... its also entertaining because at one point it becomes extremely tense and Goldie sounds like he wants to punch the interviewer in the face.

The worst one I saw was the bob moog one, the interviewer was a fucking idiot (or at least a stupid choice), didnt really know anything about the subject so had no interesting questions to ask and didn't even seem interested half the time.

just watched the one with pepe bradock the other day and it was kind of in the same dull vibe... The Theo Parrish one is the best imo.
