i feel like writing a long post. as a student i only went to the union and the jeremy bentham and the northumberland arms (of which there are two) (either side of a block on tottenham court road). the TCR bar which was called that 20 years ago and still is. rising sun on northumberland st. there was a horrible looking box pub in fitzrovia too on the way to the ship. porcupine down charing x
always used to go to bar101 under centre point for a late drink, only other place after hours was mash bar down oxford st which charged entrance.
other west end pubs, champion, king & queen, gordon's wine bar basically a pub, the rocket, irish pub on euston road, rising sun on drury lane, cross keys in covent garden, bar café in holborn (also princess louise in holborn) which is now a craft pub i think, then that yellow one halfway between holborn and drury that claimed to be the oldest pub in london. wetherspoons round there like penderel's oak, also that odd one off holborn circus with a tree in it.
horrible place on oxford st that said it was the only pub on oxford st
duke of marlborough (?) just off oxford st opposite marks & spencer. there's a pub round there that used to be called i am the only running footman, it's been rebranded as the footman
chandos off trafalgar square, another sam smith's, horse and groom off marylebone road, soho pubs like the blue posts, at least 2 of those, the duke of someshit which had wicked old interior on broadwick st.
this is leaving aside all the pitcher and piano weird white interior places that still persist.
nice place called the lincoln lounge up york way.
not such a long post after all but fun reminisce
