Girlfriend gone mental for French butter these days. We bought some not ten minutes ago.
Got delayed and didn't go to the above place (turns out it shuts at 1930) so we went to Intermarche instead. Hopefully Friday though for the trippy carpet thing.

that is broadly true but, as with microbreweries in the beer industry, a market has developed for better alternative dairy products: butter, cheese, milk, yogurt, etc. free range, organic, small batch, guys with beards who used to be graphic designers. the typical artisanal bullshit.

Obviously, America is massive and diverse, somebody is bound to make good butter somewhere.
