I've only knowingly heard two of their songs: What Makes you Think you're the One (which I like) and The Chain (which I don't), though there was a tramp in my hometown who was reputed to be Peter Green but (obviously) wasn't.

Quite like the idea of them, but have never heard or read someone express enthusiam for them without it evoking a strange feeling of suspicion, and a feeling that it will all just sound like The Eagles.

The Chain is great!
Admittedly, I used to listen to it just waiting for it to turn into the Formula 1 music, but then I realised that the rest of the song is excellent too.

There was a documentary about peter green on the telly the other night. Apparently at one of their earlier gigs they spiked the water cooler at the venue with LSD and the whole audience were tripping their tits off while the band played. Rad.

I love Fleetwood Mac. I admit I only know their 75 to 79 output, from S/T to Rumours to Tusk, but what great albums those three are. I hear very good things about their pre-Stevie days, but haven't really dug that deep.

For some , the pre -Stevie days are the ones: before the W Coast -y ness .
there's a little cut is called Hypnotized, another called Bare Trees ...

I have a soft spot for this, from the post-Green pre-Buckinghams wilderness years:

Bare Trees is my jam... though I admit I was only hipped to it by way of Sonic Youth.. when their Sonic Nurse record came out Thurston described it like this: "Bare Trees-era Fleetwood Mac jamming with Jealous Again-era Black Flag"\

Strangely I've yet to hear that Black Flag...

Darned cockwombles.
'Storms' off 'Tusk' (?) is one of the great torch songs. 'Sara' is pretty amazing too.
And who in this world doesn't like "Sweet Little Lies' or 'Dreams' just a little bit...?

'Fireflies'. Love this song. Beautiful version of this on the Tusk tour album I mentioned earlier. They never even recorded it properly. That Live album is a superb document of a band trapped and falling to pieces, possibly one of the most fucked-up bands of all time at that point.

Also, having heard Stevie Nicks sing 'Landslide' on that tour, you can't possibly listen to the orginal studio recording ever again. It's incredible, her voice breaks down, but..oh my. How so.

A lesser example from the same tour. I think the album version was taken from one of the London dates. That was a massive tour, like Metallica touring the Black Album...just unhealthy.

Tusk is an album I can't live without, like Exile on Main Street, Blood on the Tracks, Heavy Mental, Sulk, some 2-step compilations.

There's some really good Tusk-era footage on youtube.

Buckinghams in full effect!

Don't think that Christine McVie was burried during this era: 'Brown Eyes' is a Tusk highlight.
