I'd always assumed they were somewhat self aware and taking the piss with how awful the stuff is, but now I think they genuinely feel the designs are clever and funny and they just have terrible taste.
this is a bit mean, but dudes that look like this are typically incapable of taking the piss

Im actually very jealous of these people, either the lack of self awareness or the boldface defiance of it. As long as you are reasonably alright looking this shit does work. @suspended can testify

It works if you don't notice the philosophy references. If you do, it's just obnoxious, like wearing a shirt of one of Einstein's papers or something.

I mean that you can openly talk about philosophy and let other people know that youre really into philosophy and it will give you cache in social games. make friends, impress girls, create scenes and etc. and you'll likely never wind up on dissensus complaining about them either

it was a weird feeling watching 'jocks' that I went to highschool with grow out of it and become pretty cool guys. I was cool the whole time and all I got out of it was knowing more cool bands than them

I just find it excruciating. It's the same with the people on the Pynchon sub showing off their Pynchon tattoos. Makes my toes curl. Just read the books and leave the merch and fandom stuff out of it.

The people getting V-2s tatted are insane. Yeah, it's in the book, but you're walking around with a Nazi rocket on your back.

I will. I read Foucault's preface, the intro then reread the preface and I'm now up to 'The subject and enjoyment'.

They really throw you in at the deep end. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of explanation as to what a body without organs actually is, just lots of descriptions of it being smooth etc.
