Corpsey

bandz ahoy
It's great that they're so successful in rap/pop cos they were so obviously supertalented in the funky world and I thought their prospects might have died with that genre.

Edit: that's a banger, too

basiclly beacuase he wants drill to stay resolutely uncommercial and focussed on knifings and murders.

Even if i was i think it's ridiculous and it's not like there's rap music in britian that isn't "uncommercial"

it's speaks more to what he wants out of it than what's wrong with the music itself

you want my honest opinion they've been eyeing the charts from even before then if anything Drake coming over here was the turning point cause people treated his mythical cosign as their way out the endz more than anything

people want bangers from these man and that's what they'll give em, they might talk a big one about being artists and doing it "for the culture" but at the end of it it's all about securing "the bag" i mean you said it time ago Luke, UK Rap has never exactly been a genre bursting with ideas

I got bored of drill not cause i felt the music was trying to aim for the charts but because i got bored with how samey it is even the stuff that i've seen people on here once in a while say is brilliant i'm like "this ain't no different from some of the other tracks i've heard not too long ago"

I just leave it to it's own devices just cause i've stopped fuckin with it don't mean it's existance stops and who knows there's something that might grab me again

I'm just saying this whole ting with of them "aiming for xtra playlists" isn't new some of them will but this time IF ANYTHING they have a better chance cause they got people who have a better understanding of the music than say 10-15 years ago, that's not to say in the face of it the system at large is still on their case Digga D got reprimanded by the police for supporting BLM saying he was promoting violence.

and really if some of them fuck up in trying to go playlist charts n that guess what they can pull a Chipmunk and try to worm their way back on some "nah nah i always was down with the scene" ting

I just wanted to say i'm sorry if it seems like i'm really caustic about all this but it just is what it is and if you are going to acknowledge 2017 as some kind of high point hoisting the songs from that year up further and further is only gonna create even more unreasonable expectations and frothing at the mouth over "why couldn't it have gone that way instead of this way?"

and i gurantee as much as we focus on the good from that there was some right old forgettable shite that came out that year also

hell you honestly think back in 2014 when i would listen to Radar at the gym and this cropped up that this would be a massivly important single in retrospect?
