I do like Dutchavelli but it's a bit too polished in a way, drill was better when it didn't sound so professional.

These are big-

Interesting going back to 2008 the beats sounded like Jeezy/Gucci beats.

I mean it's obvious really the UK scene generally follows the US's lead. (While innovating in its own way, before anyone jumps on my neck.)

Like that Segregation track, that's pretty mad. Not that I know drill well, but I've not heard anything like that before. Life on the inside realness. What's a TEC? AFC is "Accommodation Fabric Checks" so Google tells me. Think with him, it's all about the voice, much like Giggs.

Loads of those tapes then had recycled US beats in, some of the early PDC ones are basically all US.

Probably what helped sn1/giggs step up above a lot of them is that they had the strongest London producers at the time- boom productions, bayoz etc- and that helped a lot of it stand out. I know the biggest Giggs tune was a dre beat but generally they really did stand out.

It was more with the likes of Carns Hill- Youngs Teflon tapes etc- that it became a lot more equal the standards rose but that's a year or two down the line.

Much more rigid formula these days tho

Bit boring at the moment.

Pop Smoke had to die so Abra could take his blueprint and make it better. Really strange occult back and forth of influence and spirit power.

yeah but he's also from that world so there's something more real behind it than, say, a white middle class artist or journalist or whatever. i watched it again last night, great piece.
