Fuck London

i made the mistake of visiting oxford st yesterday at 6ish and then was forced to spend about 2 hours struggling with public transport amongst barging crowds of arsy punters just to get out of the centre, having had to cross town to deliver a letter cos the post is sporadically on strike
hungry and unable to find anything decent to eat for blocks and blocks of homogenised overpriced corporate sludge
course some of that's boris fault, that imbecile will have wrecked the city by the time we get rid of him, but there is also an 'upyours' attitude from the up-themselves folk of london that even visitors seem to love to adopt
pwerhaps that's what we get for idolising bankers and business
what a shithole
time for a break

Oh the humanity.
I was hoping this was some large sponsored event in Hyde park in a similar vein to Nike: Run London, though with more fucking.

You were in Oxford Circus at 6pm on a Friday evening - what on earth did you expect?
It's been human wave attacks down there since Tyburn

'London, he says, is a city under siege from a suburban government which uses homelessness, pollution, crime, and the most expensive and run down public transport system of any city in Europe as weapons against Londoners' lingering desire for the freedoms of city life.'

Nonsense. its everything outside of London that is the arsehole of the UK, friend. i've tried them both for long periods of time and i know where my heart is. Plus the fact that economically the capital keeps the rest of the uk propped up. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

it's good i can listen to my neighbours playing funky thru the floorboards, and i can pop down the local shop and get some sandalwood soap which is my favorite soap, and usually costs loads from fancy boutique places.
why go into oxford street on a friday anyway?

it's dirty and it smells. yeah it's got some big parks but even right in the centre it still smells of buses. and you pay through the nose for the privelidge of living in place where you have to pay through the nose to get public transport anywhere. even at night in the centre it's busier than leicester on a saturday afternoon.

london is the only place i have seen a woman cough phlegm onto herself and not clean it off.

london is the only place where i have seen tramps fishing empty sweet wrappers out of bins for crumbs with crowds of people around.

i can get everything i want in the midlands and all with added advantages of things like hills, countryside, the ability to breathe fresh air, see the stars.

i can understand if you grew up there. i can't understand ever moving there.

Had you considered moving to Brighton? I've heard it's really, like, laid back and funky and, like, so much more chilled than London...

i often hate it while simultaneously realising no other city in the world is even one fifteenth as good.

quite. hard to think of living anywhere else - i'd get pretty fucking bored/disheartened pretty quickly. Outside London is nice for a daytrip.

yeah same here.

although living by the sea is pretty tasty.

i went for a caravan holiday in Southwold last weekend and swam in the sea both days. Best hangover cure in the world. so yeah, living by the sea is good... but not really as good as london.

London is an amazing city. One of the greatest. It's just in a very bad way, right now. But what city isn't? Would you really rather live in Coventry? The only real option other than great cities is beautiful coastlines. So it's Britain. Or Japan. Or America.
