WOODY ALLEN'S MANHATTAN
amazing film. thank you woody allen. he is a comedic, and humanistic genius in how he meshes comedy, realism, and cynicism while keeping everything in a grounded, stilted reality. woody is possibly working at the peak of his career with this film, coming off the heights of annie hall, he takes a turn from fantastical romantic heartbreaking storytelling to a much more real and bleaker look at psuedo intellect failed creatives in new york city. this film is fairly infamous for the character woody plays dating a 17 year old in some parts of the film, but my viewing and perspective and reading on the film is how the film as a whole is an indictment on all its characters, but the 17 year old, she has yet to be corrupted. in the film, all characters have moments and oppurtunities where they may "redeem" themselves in the eyes of the audience, but they fall back into their own pitfalls and selfish ways of life. i loved the film, and i would recommend it to anyone who loves films, the cinematography from gordon willis cements him in history. the reservation is that woody's character is dating a 17 year old in the film while woody is an alleged nonce in real life, but if u arent a crowd following reddit athiest then you can think critically and develop a real and thoughtful take on the film, and that aspect itself.
