    Desiton

the only record of this kind that i have is rdb featuring elephant man - ishq naag (reggaeton remix). i found it at a local record shop by coincidence. i'm also curious where you can find more of this stuff.

DMZ in Sheffield was a revelation

anyway, back on topic. i can't help it, this bit in the original report caught my eye:  but i do think that a good dj can build a very good dubstep set. there is a great variety of beat patterns in dubstep and longer transitions between tracks really can create something different...

    Burial interview @ Blackdown/Burial album

that argument "you need to hear it in a club" is kinda strange. you need to say that to dance music hating rock fans, but most other people already have a good feeling for music that they will autimatically tell you "i want to hear this on a loud system". which is what a lot of people who like...

    Burial interview @ Blackdown/Burial album

this is only true in the sense that you can get enough energy out of any kind of music. club music needs to have a more immediate impact, though. and perhaps it is not "perfectly" true, but it's true from the point of view from just a bit too many people. and compared to where dubstep comes from...

    Burial interview @ Blackdown/Burial album

i'm afraid it's perfectly true that dubstep lacks energy on pretty much every level. i suppose it's a matter of taste as well, but if you have experience with all the different styles of club music dubstep can't possibly rank high in this regard. there are exceptions, of course, but not enough...

    Burial interview @ Blackdown/Burial album

weird. normally your default player should run and both mozilla and explorer work fine. anyway, the mixes are now available for download for a couple of days: http://www.play.fm/temp/sets/a0000000273.mp3 http://www.play.fm/temp/sets/a0000000355.mp3 rightclick and save as

    Why they call it 'Dubstep'?

not really 'dubstep', but in the november 2001 article about dark garage in deuce mag steve (i suppose it's the same person) used "spooky yet warm dub step vibe" to describe the sound of the ghost camp. i personally used that term ever since.

i did not think so. quite a lot of people i talked to think that contemporary dubstep sounds "like techno" and those who are into "oficial" black genres (hip hop, r'n'b, dancehall) even more so.

there are still djs who play that way and it still sounds better than each genre separately, imo.

Are pure Garage sounds still being made?

there was a separate cd for new garage on the last pure garage compilation by ez, and there was a dvd grime, garage & bassline (not just garage obviously) but otherwise i don't think there are any compilations. there are many mixes online, though, and you can get mix cds in specialist shops. in...

what scares me most is that 2 step haters from the drum'n'bass scene like dubstep as it is now  i suppose that's because it's indeed white boys' music now, just like drum'n'bass.

top producer. would dubstep heads agree that he more or less started their movement?

Are pure Garage sounds still being made?

i agree most of the new speed garage (aka bassline house) is, well, awful. london producers have a different take on it, though, and their tracks are better. i'd prefer more 2 step, especially since the few 2 step tracks that get released usually get a good reaction. "ghetto queen" by...

Are pure Garage sounds still being made?

i wasn't even aware of the northern scene until 2 years ago. basically speed garage never died there even during the reign of 2 step. there is now a firm link between some london producers and promoters and their northern counterparts and most releases now feature "up north" mixes alongside 4x4...

Are pure Garage sounds still being made?

of course there are. garage proper was pretty dead 3 years ago or so, but it got better. some of the producers form back in the day are still around, mj cole is still active and the wideboys release new records regularly and even sunhip and ed case released a few new tracks. it's mostly new...

DUBSTEP- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

i agree, more 2 step influence would be nice. it's nice to have tracks with a lot of space, but i need beats to keep me interested. it would also increase the chances that people will actually dance to dubstep.
