I've seen Possesor and Imfinity Pool... both promising ideas that made bas choices and ended up underwhelming... like father like son I guess.

I think I was pretty out of it when I watched it, I don't remember either of those scenes. In fact I didn't even know Sean Bean was in it.
Thing is, I thought the overall concept (whatever it was, I forget) didn't quite make sense somehow and I think all through the film that idea was just lurking at the back of my mind making everything I saw slightly unsatisfactory, even the cool bits.

My friend did some of the fx on it though which is pretty cool I think.

Watched Infinity Pool tonight, I liked it, it reminded me of weird Tunisian resorts

Once many years ago we were sat on an African resort beach in the baking heat and a young lad in a leather jacket tried to sell us a turtle that he pulled from his inside pocket. Later that night we watched a Turkish woman do depressing karaoke in the blue basement bar

It was a bit like that

I think I have wrote about Tunisia before but it was sandwiched between the two terrorist incidents and to arrive at the resort you had to pass through several armed checkpoints and then stop at various family resorts (we were on a package holiday) before getting to our own adults only gaff

Kids on the coach driving through dusty roads flanked by police with semi-automatics

A bit like the American school system really

He was supposed to be turning Ballard's Super-Cannes into a TV show at one point, seems like any ideas from that probably went into Infinity Pool instead. The resort set up's surely too similar for him to bother doing both.

I tried reading Super Cannes but never finished it think it was too soon after the Cocaine Nights one

This did feel like it had a lot of fake Ballard themes

I love to read this Dystopianism, I even find it beautiful... but if my real life was like that I'd probably hang myself from the karoake machine pretty quick smart.

I remember thinking Infinity Pool reminded me a lot of White Lotus... at first... also there was something else I watched lately in that same vein of conspicuous luxury at the expense of the locals type thing that again went in a different direction, I wonder what that was.

Either way that premise seems like a big thing at the moment, something in the zeitgesit or whatever.

It was a great holiday to be honest, some of the best fish I've ever eaten
