I know they've been done to death, but there doesn't actually seem to be a 'proper' thread on them aside from an older one on Rhythm & Sound and they're (perhaps) the best music ever. The consistency's ridiculous too. There's a ton of material and it's basically all stellar.

I hadn't been listening to them quite as much recently then third's inclusion of Cyrus in that mix set me off again.

I saw Maurizio play a DJ set in Bristol to a room of about 50 people (the room was tiny).

Was very excited at the time. Now I don't give think I'd give a shit. That's age for you.

If you'll excuse me some nostalgia that was a great time for me from a musical POV. It was discovering electronic music via dubstep basically. So finding out there was stuff like Basic Channel was amazing.

Urrrrgh take me back

Was the set any good?

It obviously wasn't memorable cos I don't remember it.

Probably not all that great. It was bizarre cos he was playing this tiny tiny club in Bristol. The sound probably wasn't all that...

Certain sets from those days I do remember, like Martyn at Thekla and Todd the God Edwards at Basement 45... And Dettmann at some club I can't even remember the name of.

Realising as I write this that my life (even pre lockdown) is intolerably boring now.

few fonder memories than "discovering" basic channel records when I first started to explore electronic music. there were still loads of record stores in those days, and I vividly remember the thrill of being in sonic groove and finding a bin with all these cryptic 12s that sounded unlike anything I'd ever heard. think I bough three or four of the singles that day (all I could afford at the time) and then got the rest of them over the following couple of weeks.

I'm sure a million people have roughly that same story.
