Apple is more circumspect: “I would never say ‘UK funky’s back’... We’re on a different wave now.” He made his new ‘Bongoclart’ EP on that same Sony Vaio from 2005, this time inspired by a new sound. “The boys over South Africa, the amapiano producers... I’ve just got that feeling of 2006 again.”
You're more familiar than me. I was under the impression it was a mix of old and current stuff.I listened to first 30 mins or so earlier and I recognised nearly every tune from the old days
Not sure. I only ever heard his funky tunes and that Powerful Leg one I just posted which I guess is grime. These two are good,Don't think he had that many funky tunes, wasnt' he a bassline producer?
What do those in the know reckon is the best mix in this thread for all the new stuff?
Has anyone come up with one? They need to let a new name run, its a lot easier to market something as new to foreign bookers and festivals. DJ mag not doing anyone any favours there
I like it when the MCs refer to it as "the upper echelons". You hear that quite a bitLol it's better than trying to call it uk funky 2.0 or something equally as shit
One of the MCs will say something and it'll stick. I know they keep calling it afro but hopefully something better comes along when the clubs are back
