argh no!! i was really enjoying the set natch (the funky got a lot of people on the floor didn't it!) but had to dash off to find mel, as we were supposed to be interviewing all of paug at once (which sadly didn't happen). i still haven't heard 'the message' in a club goddamnit!

really feeling the no lay mixtape, especially the tracks featuring badness and ghetto.
the atmotsphere kind of reminds me of anne clark, the 80's goth poet of sleeper in metropolis fame

not much love for female mc's in grime it seems though

it's probably harder for them, i'd say.. but no lay gets a lot of props on the forums and from fellow (male) mcs. the last no lay mixtape i downloaded was full of crappy half-songs and rendered unlistenable by those infuriating imbeciles sk vibemakers, who put it together and talked over most of the songs. if i hear the phrase 'know yourself out here' one more time i may be moved to violence.

saying all this, no lay is brilliant, i've always been a huge fan. i think she needs some better beats though.

which mixtape are you talking about? i think i may even have the new one somewhere..

'No Help, No Handouts' on the first Run The Road comp is one of my favourite Grime tunes.
I think she is hugely underrated and with the right team around her could be a lot bigger.

i agree totally, and i think it's the team that's been lacking, on previous evidence - will give no comparisons another listen, think i only gave it one spin.

also.. female allstars for people who never saw it:

Did I miss a few tunes then? There is only another (very funny) diss of Flowdan up at the moment?

Must admit I agree with him on Flowdan, I find him dull and not into the Bug tunes with him at all which all sound pretty much the same to me.

Shit, there were another 3 new tunes up and they're gone now! Only listened to em the once and they did sound very abstract and strange. Definitely a very promising taster for the next soulfood anyway.

Monged there. I actually meant 'Unorthadox Daughter' but 'No Help, No Handouts' is also big.

i heard some of the roll deep album. sounded pretty dire. weak beats. bored emceeing. ill wait til i hear the proper finished thing but not getting my hopes up.

kanos album isnt bad, but nothing amazing. i hate that slow-flow thing he does for his hooks. shame he didnt make this type of album in 2003/2004.
