Beast of Burden
Yeah, it could be that the overall quality level - in retrospect - has been so high and the output so diverse it's hard to identify stand out classics. Anyway, a better year than I thought.

Mary Anne Hobbs played my folk / garage tune last night, so that's a result :).

skream fucking killed it last night at the DJ mag awards, i take back anything ive said about his performances over the last while. The plodding metal-step was gone replaced with funky tinged percussive destroyers. I hope hes turned a corner and wasnt just pissing about to a small crowd

I wonder if this has something to do with DJ Mag being a mainly house/techno biased magazine? People into that sort of music seem to mainly be into stuff by Martyn/2562 etc... So maybe there was an element of playing to the crowd. Which arguably is part of being a good DJ.

Having said that Skream seems to be heading more into this direction in his production anyway.

Hyperdub (and dubstep in general) needs to get the fuck out of my wallet. Ignoring the fact that I'm on a couple of them, the last few Whistla shows have been fucking berzerk, lots of crazy rave vibes creeping into the neo-2-step thing.

Oh, and I'm not even gonna begin to talk about the new D1 double pack, so just use your imagination and the following words: ecstatic, slinky, broken, jumpstyle, ejaculation.
