caught the video for paparazzi at the weekend - it's pretty odd ...
finally someone made that connection, i've always thought that but never really said anything to anyone... even some of her vocal mannerisms remind me of him, but yeah it's more the style/face/glam stuff.

That's ironic. Because I went through a big metal phase in my teens, and when I saw all the Marilyn Manson videos, I kept going back to Madonna in the back of my head.

There was an interview in I think OMM a while back where Marilyn Manson is hanging backstage with her at some gig, the interviewer seems appalled at Manson, Manson seems enthralled with her.

That one had at least a couple "Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight" scene and costume rips -'hommages'.
She's funny tho', at least not corporate manufactured.

I gave her a second look after this thread started and now I'm fascinated. The first four tracks on the album are a perfect block of 00s pop. Dull in the rhythm department, yes, but pretty deft mixing of influences for the intended effect. The trance/crunk synth stuff really plays on that hazy drunk-music sound that mms pointed out in reference to something else, but here it perfectly suits the tone of the record. And she's just kind of ill overall. You don't really know what she has up her sleeve.
Image-wise, she strikes me as the first post-Paris/Britney-deathwatch pop star: "I'll follow you until you love me. Papa... Paparazzi." Total Spectacle assimilation. She's alleged to be friends with Perez Hilton, thus breaking Celeb 4th wall. All the better if it's "friends" in the social networking sense. And that "penis" thing was genius. Way to turn a million would-be "Lady Gaga Upskirt Pics" blog posts into an uncomfortable minute of reflection on the "gynecological-turn" in celeb reporting.

no, was thinking the epic 9 minute or somthing Paparazzi video, where shes dancing in crutches and a neck brace...
also, i dont know if this is now just the common thing in pop videos, but anyone else notice the massive product placement in her videos? i mean huge foregrounded bottle of martini in "just dance", similar thing with Campari in "love game", and of course, huge online poker site logo on a table in "Pokerface".... didnt see anything in paparazzi, thought maybe thats because the director was a bit more famous/artistic (Bathory!)

struggle to see gaga as anything but fairly vile, standard lite pop t&a with far above average dress-ups. though this probably means i'll love her in 5 albums time once she's fallen out of favour and makes a fierce disco comeback.
as far as fem dancepop goes i like the new peaches a lot and amanda blank is very good too.

Having only heard her not great er, rap / vocal' over Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight on the Spankrock Fabric mix, like to hear something she wrote, her own songs.
No comment on Peaches.
GaGa is playing everything and everyone, on a few levels and is already large enough to 'act a star', go through the usual media moves and show a bit of bite - but I want more bite, less of the disco' bland.
