Worst songs you've ever heard?

The worst songs are slippery. You feel the dread, but cant pin exactly where. Is it the cheeky, but not too cheeky, lyrics? the very necessary banjo buried in the mix? Cagle's truly awful yet somehow inoffensive voice? This song is a smooth surface of mediocrity, a perfect economy of unease absolving all sonic constituents of final judgement but exonerating none. It never boils over into completely debased fun like contemporary classics Trace Adkins Honky Tonk Badonkadonk or RaeLynn's God Made Girls, nor does it render itself ineffectual with the sterile, uncanny stylings of contemporary country-pop crossover. Its always just out of reach. Heard this song in a gas station around a year ago and immediately upon returning to my car created a playlist titled "Horrendous Songs For Deep Contemplation." I have yet to find a song that holds me the same way; its remains the only song on the playlist. This is my Velvet Underhground's Heroin of horrible songs.

I get it, really. I was younger, for one thing.

"Clownstep" they called it, quite accurately.

But I loved that stuff for a while.

I wonder if I'd still love it if I wasn't aware that it was considered cheesy and shite by other people? I think taste is very socially determined.

I was very aware of what was considered cheesy and shite by others as a kid. Kinda regret it. Feel like I missed out on alot of honest fun

The Dead are so loveable though, and they wrote some legitimately good songs. All phish songs are shit. If the jam isn't good its complete trash
