Nazi art - abominable ideology aside - sucks, boring, lifeless neoclassicism.
Gibson was tweeting about this the other day.

Yeah I think he said someday something would be written about this particular genre... which is something I've been sort of subconsciously thinking for a while I guess.... but then is it really any different from those sentimental pics of Stalin as the father of the country with a twinkle in his eye and so on?

Although at least those pics of Stalin did look like him, not his younger, thinner, more handsome and athletic cousin.

Yep

I'm a fan of the way the guys waving machine guns on some random rock mirror the folks (in the boat) in the pic version posted. It's like they both agree perfectly on what the sides are, the question is just who's winning.

is "nazi" art uniformly bad? theres certainly a lot of good far right literature - eg, pound, Lewis, Elliott, etc

puts me in mind of the HMS Bounty crew w/indigenous Tahitians post-mutiny

or any Age of Sail European contact with indigenous Pacific islanders, but it the paradise soon to be lost/never was vibe of the Bounty

I assume it's referencing something relatively famous that I'm not picking up on

I was only talking about Nazi visual art, which is uniformly bad

nb bad != ineffective, depending on its intended purpose

i.e. plenty of the propaganda is effective but that doesn't make it good or aesthetically or conceptually interesting art

It was more the fact that someone will probably say that a) there were lefty-futurists and b) it has no merit.
