I don't think projecting local (if you mean council?) elections into a general election works particularly, Danny. At the same time Hartlepool was very embarrassing but it is clear that a lot more than that was going on - which unfortunately means Analysis from Thinkers over the next few weeks where the stats will be read like entrails.I don't know if Burnham, Khan and Ros Jones in Doncaster have been calling themselves socialists. Be surprised if they have.
Apparently projecting the local election results into a general would give Cons -38 seats, Lab +23, LD +13 - so we'd be back in hung parliament again. So I don't know if it's the absolute disaster everyone is keen to say it is. Esp with background of pandemic - furlough wages, vaccine rollout etc.
Yeah, I agree re. projecting council elections into a general. I just wanted to present a counter-view (some would no doubt say counter-factual) - Hartlepool is *embarrassing* yeah, but also utterly predictable. I read a comment a few days before that said if the Tories could have picked a perfect seat to fight a by election, it would've been this one. Labour's outgoing MP was I think chucked out on sexual harassment charges as well? And they parachuted a strongly Remain MP in, which seems a very poor choice.I don't think projecting local (if you mean council?) elections into a general election works particularly, Danny. As we've said before the next GE is quite a way off and it's unclear if getting Brexit Done and vaccines will still be the biggest issues then or not.
Alright, Gek-opel.The Accelerationist in me is fully in favour of Richard Burgon taking over the Labour Parry.
Well Burgon won't be taking over anything, so it doesn't matterI think there are problems with Labour but like you say, a lot of stuff going on. I just don't agree with the SIR KEITH HAIRCUT HAS FUCKED IT LET RICHARD BURGEON TAKE OVER narrative we're seeing with crushing inevitability.
