it's a symptom of the death of rave culture and the collapse of all activity into the spectacle. boiler room is just another window into the Panopticon.

no one can be anything but self-conscious and inhibited within the Panopticon becasue they are always being watched. all you can do is simulate the absence of inhibition for the watchers.

In fairness I've never seen anyone dance on Boiler Room, it's hardly Lazar's fault. Even Armin van Buren himself couldn't move a Boiler Room crowd.

glad i'm not the only one annoyed by how self conscious / performative boiler room dancing tends to look. i was going to mention that but thought maybe it was just me.
