My friend Ben says that loving something is just a matter of learning to speak its language, see eg Stockholm syndrome—what do we make of that?
me and stanley were talking about this yesterday. its true up to a point. but equally not true.

I don't feel dissimilar but I also feel like I could give this album a couple more listens and suddenly I can't get a buncha them outta my head. And that I couldn't predict which ones those would be. It's very mysterious, how they grow on you

Most interesting things seem to be true up to a point, most things that are fully true are not very interesting, I think

woops

is not like other people
to love something is to find yourself compelled to learn a new language.it works that way round.

on the one hand we all know that you can suddenly get something which previously you hadnt got. or that something can grow on you. on the other hand it dont ring true that you can like anything if you just find the knack of it

Sure, I don't think I disagree, the question is one of prediction: can I know which will grow or click? And therefore how nearsighted am I, on a first listen

And songs have lifespans too right sometimes the ones that take a long time to grow on you also stick around a while, it's like they have a slow metabolism. And then other ones you get it right away, but get sick of it, it's like candy, you're mouth is all sticky with it, you can barely eek into double digit spins and you're already grown sick of it

I really liked it to start off but I got addicted gasoline on repeat. Don’t break my heart and how do I make you love me may also be hits

I can find his voice a bit too rich actually but this is the first bit of work where the production has matched up

It is quite interesting hearing Max Martin/Swedish House Mafia filtered through Oneohtrixpoint Mega. (Or vice versa.)

As a pop vocalist, though, I find The Weeknd is just Diet (or Dilute) Michael Jackson.

Favourite Weeknd pop/knock off MJ choons I'm aware of: I Can't Feel My Face, I Feel It Coming
