Oh, I think they do. They might have thought they could get away with it, but to be unaware either indicates some level of serious mental health issue (delusional thinking at least) or utter stupidity rather than lack of education. I'd agree it's worth a go though. If it was just saying "you...
I think it was noted that male abusers are less likely to admit starting the incident, and even in a situation where both parties are mutually aggressive, if the male is stronger physically, he will generally be able to escalate hostility to a higher degree.
There are also the instances of men...
How exactly? I've already said that the rapists are damaged, that they prey on the vulnerable and that victims are more likely to become victims by virtue of having a vulnerability the rapist can exploit, which might be being physically weaker, may involve being incapacitated via substance...
Actually, whilst wondering quite how this wonderful patriarchy's working for me and still not being able to think of any particular advantages and I found this

I had a look at the Home Office statistics for...
Well without naming names, I've heard a pair of dj's get £800 for a 90 minute set, and I suppose in bigger venues that's going to be loads more. I did also hear of one of the dubstep originals getting paid loads less in comparison which seems criminal.
I think it generally goes not even expenses, then beer, then some money, then (if lucky) several hundred quid a night (I know a lot of the bigger dubstep names charge at least £200 for a set, don't know how it works in other genres), and then when the punters lose interest, whatever they can get.
Also just out of interest, what is the possibility that someone that is constantly told they were "born bad" regardless of their general behaviour, is likely to fulfil that prophesy? If negative role models for women undermine female self-worth and distort aspiration, does this not apply to men...
I did. In my reply to Waffle's post I mentioned that it was a good idea to spot and rehabilitate male victims of abuse too. It's been shown that early intervention is more likely to curb violent behaviour in later life, so yeah I'd totally agree. I'd also state that I never said that "damaged"...
I thought I'd come back to this - I don't think empathising equates to "let me feel your pain" and obviously in a real sense never can. To me it means being considerate to someone's emotions and trying to understand how they feel. Personally, my main consideration is my friends' welfare, not...
Yeah I agree, I think the date rape issue would be much easier to deal with by simple education, both sexual and in terms of alcohol consumption and its effects. I think that naked, sexually attractive women sell films and Hollywood is probably more concerned about dollars than unrealistic...
Yes. I've already said they were cowardly and opportunistic. They are looking for someone weaker and more damaged than themselves. It does of course make perfect sense to look into using the same course of treatment on them if it might reduce the general incidence of abuse and possibly lead them...
Yes it is pretty tragic that people need to get into that state.
Just out of interest, how do you think the portrayal of women in the media might affect the various notions of acceptable sexual practises to males? I'm talking more about the mainstream end than pornography (although admittedly...
