I dunno, from what I've heard about Paul Dacre (for one) it's not an act or an enjoyment, he's just a hugely angry and vindictive person. I was reading about him being prepped to give evidence for some sort of trial (maybe Leveson inquiry or something similar) and Private Eye reported his staff members saying something so hard to make him come across any differently cos if you strip away the rage and hatred, what you find beneath it is more of the same - I think their literal words were something like "It's just icy cold rage all the way down to his core". It's completely different from Johnson who doesn't really care deeply about anything, if his boss said "I need 10,000 on why all Muslims are paedophiles and we want it to come out at [x] time and really sway public opinion and ruin a lot of lives" then Johnson would just say sure, not cos he believed it was true or wanted particularly to hurt people, it's more that he doesn't give a fuck if what he says is true or not or if his actions result in people getting hurt - he would have just as happily written the opposite essay, in fact it's well documented that there were times when he did both. Whereas if Dacre was in that situation then he would write the first one cos he his filled with hatred of Muslims, but he wouldn't write the second cos he's a man of (admittedly evil) principles. But he's also the sort of person who really enjoys being angry.
And we're only at the start...the foundations have been shattered and we're beginning to see the cracks work their way up from the bottom of the house.
