I got as far as the finger snapping. Cringe-induced spasms, worse than the GoT girl doing reggae.

idk if this is woke capitalism but i'm applying for jobs rn and the applications keep asking me for my sexual orientation which frankly seems way too forward. i'm in favor of them attempting to diversify their hires and i have no problem giving them my race and gender and whatnot but the idea of leveraging my sexual history to gain a tiny leg up in the soul crushing job search makes me feel gross. just seems like its in a different category than the other two.
It's been common in the UK for years. I don't get it either - surely the way to reduce prejudice in hiring would be to have as *little* of this sort of information available to hiring managers as possible? It's like what @boxedjoy (I think) was complaining about the other day. The obvious thing to do is for HR to pass on CVs to hiring managers with the names redacted, so you can't tell the applicant's gender or whether they have a "foreign-sounding" name. Of course these things can't be masked when someone comes to interview, but it's my understanding that most of the discrimination happens before that, in the ratio of applicants who actually get invited in the first place.Where? I thought that was against the law

I read something the other day about an actress pretending to be disabled to get a role. I don't think she thought it through.
If you think that's bad - forgive the DM link, but imagine doing the same thing to win a gold medal at the Paralympics against actual disabled athletes: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...m-pretended-disabled-win-Paralympic-gold.htmlThis is wrongfunny on too many levels.
