Or do we just have to accept that anything said by an earnest white woman with a sociology degree in front of a corporate boardroom (in return for huge sums of money) is legitimately "anti-racist" just because it is being sold as anti-racist, even when it is literally parroting the oldest and most obvious racist tropes about black people?

If you're going to use the "read people who know what they're talking about" line, you may like to consider that the two alleged anti-racist gurus quoted extensively in the pieces I posted look like this:

I think what's happening here is that you're such a fundamentalist about this stuff that your critical faculties go out of the window and you can't smell the bullshit that emanates in great foetid waves off of a couple of privileged white women with sociology degrees making serious bank giving other white people PowerPoint presentations full of meaningless generalizations, glaring inconsistencies and flatly offensive racist stereotypes about black people, all in the name of "anti-racism". You just see something selling itself as "anti-racism", take it at face value, and then falsely accuse anyone who can see through the self-defeating absurdity of it of being "reactionary".

I notice you haven't actually rebutted a single point raised by either of the pieces I posted, merely flung insults, as usual. If that's your attitude then you can get fucked. I'll give you time to read this and then block you. I'm sick of these constant character assassinations.

I don't think you are saying that a white woman can't understand "structural racism" (are you?) you seem quite confused and your interpretation of their work is hysterical and inaccurate, the issue is much more nuanced than how the journalists you cited have presented it.

but, by joining the pile on you are supporting the "reactionaries" and the tory culture war, and certainly helping perpetuate the problem, if you dug in a bit and made some points of your pwn, perhaps you'd learn something and make a useful contribution

I provided some alternative examples to explore, to give you an opportunity to genuinely examine the issue in good faith, but it seems you're choosing the toys out of the pram strategy instead.

I received the Tema Okun piece (which incidentally was co-authored by a black person) in good faith on an email list this week - its a genuinely useful resource for white people seeking to widen their perspectives about race (which of course is what needs to happen unless we expect black people to sort this out by themselves)

It's a really bad look for white blokes like tea or Matthew Yglesias to pour scorn - it displays a nasty wilful blindness and arrogance - "foetid" was the word Tea used i think 🤮 a case in point as they say

Aside from the insult to black/poc students, the teaching staff who get these policies handed down to them from above and have to actually implement them with their students must be stressed as fuck, if they're not totally numbly resigned to it by now. They should revolt.

I think she should be careful given I know of people who can attest that she was less than the model white student in school, quite the uncouth 'chav' by all accounts, hardly the image of the clean cut respectable commentator image she's trying to miserably sell.

nearly 20 years ago then. A lot has changed. A day is a very long time in politics, etc etc.

I wouldn't mind Samuels if her whole branding wasn't predicated on being used as cheap meat by her betters to shit on leftists (something I don't .. necessarily have a problem with if done thoughtfully) but she lacks the elegance of a true traditional conservative. Far too sexed up, a Flora Gill without the ability to shut up. When she sees that the money is not coming in like she hoped, then time will be up. Because in her hearts of hearts, she is just as liberal as the people she is criticising, she just uses different tactics to get to the same place. The only way she'll be avle to avoid this disastrous fate is to have a rich benefactor (a sugar daddy in all but name.)

Back then in the pre woke era Viz had this character, Student Grant, that sort of sums up the stereotypes of students at the time - interesting to compare to today
