I've wondered whether those teenagers who hack into the Pentagon etc are encouraged or allowed to because of stuff like this.

  • the idea of being under the eyes of cosmic watchmen who select for superior specimens and put them through a training regime, sorting for this or that trait, and assigning them to classes, such as for instance Plato's watchdogs, fierce, loyal, growling types. and me being selected as illuminati and then onwards up the ranks to G-O-D.

You could tie this stuff into the X-Men films too: Xavier runs a secret school where they put all the "gifted" people, stick them in uniforms and effectively send them out on combat missions.

The kind of interpretations put forward by vigilant citizen now feed back into mainstream movie making and music videos. They're consciously and deliberately alluded to.

The symbology established (butterflies, Alice in wonderland, pyramids, all seeing eye etc) is now part of the vocabulary of the entire entertainment industry if it wasn't already

That trope of "gifted" people being put into programs appears over and over in superhero stories. You can see something similar in stuff like Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Street Sharks and Biker Mice from Mars. It's always young people being recruited in some fashion, sometimes experimented on.

Yes, exactly. So then we have to ask ourselves, is this something seeded in my unconscious by these fictions, or do these fictions generate themselves via the same unconscious fantasies, or are they in fact the record of something which is really happening. Or all of the above at once!

This is one of the things lurking in the background of Inherent Vice. The hippies are being fed through a machine which hooks them on smack, puts them through rehab, replaces their teeth and pushes them into COINTELPRO.

There's also a connection to the "yoga-industrial complex" as they operate some weird cult through the rehab facility and one of the rituals is overseen by a mob enforcer with a swastika tattooed on his face we're told to pay no attention to.

Similar thing in crying of lot 42 unless I'm getting mixed up. That particular paranoid spidey sense coloured all my experience of therapy and the therapy racket

Lot 49. The number's really important. And yeah, they're pushing California housewives into an LSD-based program called The Bridge. It's also in Vineland. There's a DEA agent addicted to television who goes into rehab for it. Also the White Visitation in Gravity's Rainbow's some sort of gifted and talented program where they study people with paranormal abilities.

I think it's perhaps more interesting when it comes up in something like a superhero film because they're designed to be seen by a lot of people.

It's a very old idea, the young people being taken away. God kills the firstborn sons of Egypt, the pied piper leads the children into the mountains.
