No surprises there. It's probably the best one. Rich. Full of flavour. Hearty and comforting. Like a mothers embrace.

Let's Talk About Ceps
Paul Verhoeven is great but we saw Showgirlfs recently and I still didn't really like it. It doesn't deserve to be reviled as it is but it's not good.
I remember slagging it off here years ago and mistersloane tried to convince me it was secretly a great masterpiece, so maybe it deserves a rewatch.

It does feature easily the silliest sex scene in any film I've seen.

I liked the gauche country girl who says "Ver-sayce" for Versace.

Her saying Ver-saisse is the main thing I remember too.
His other films are almost all great or at least good.

There’s a hole in the middle of this thread if you’re citing the 80’s and haven’t seen Commando.

God it’s terrible.
The whole point is that 80s cinema is a gap in my cultural education. That's the premise. I had a deprived childhood. No vcr.

It's my mums fault. She had quixotic ideas about child rearing

Wait until you see Arnold’s relationship with his daughter in Commando.

Take it you‘ve been out of the family nest for a while, so much gash trash, you haven’t missed much. Same faces across multiple crimes against culture. They should all be forced to see out their days on a windy hellscape in the south Atlantic.

I've only just decided to make up for the gaps in my education now. It's never too late, that's what they tell you.
