I usually don't let the MJ accusations bother me but on a long drive recently I actually bothered to read an article about it and it made it uncomfortable when the MJ songs I'd queued on Spotify kicked in.

That's why I don't really like to think about what he probably did cos some of those songs are a sort of platonic ideal of beauty for me and it's horrible to have that soiled.

Perhaps the future of mainstream music really belongs to women because they rarely (if ever) get accused/found guilty of perpetrating horrible acts behind the scenes (except maybe diva shit like screaming at a PA).

Ultimately it will be impossible for a major label to put money behind male artists who are at least 55% likely to do something horrendous that destroys their career and depreciates the value of their back catalogue.

Usher is incredible at adapting to all kinds of styles and trends but I think his chameleonic tendencies mean I see his music as only being as good as how into a current trend I am as a listener. He brings a sense of purpose and craft to EDM-by-numbers stuff but I still don't want to hear something "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love" because it's otherwise rubbish.

I like Miguel as a personality a lot. I find a lot of male r&b singers come across as being sleazy in their overt sexuality, or unconvincing if they're unwilling to commit, but he manages to straddle the boundary between lascivious and endearing. He has a softness, basically.

Jeremih is good as well, his gossamer voice means he can sing some really nasty stuff and it still sounds sweet rather than predatory and discomforting.

usher is a million times better than t-pain hes one of the gods of music. hes better than marvin gaye and a lot of that lot from the old days. not a nice person and a lot of people say he fiddled with justin beaver etc but lets not pretend hes not a great musician
Who's pretending Usher's not a great musician? I love a lot of his old stuff too.

But I dont really think he's a 'million times' better than T-pain, I just think T-pain is massively underrated as an artist and has been unfairly treated is all I really wanted to say.

Never heard about the justin beaver stuff, whats that all about?

I wonder if he realised that he'd done it and just didn't acknowledge it?

I'd have made it worse by stopping the music and apologising profusely like a pathetic worm.

the writing in this piece is amazing.
I saw some graffiti under a canal bridge in Mile End reading rubber dinghy rapids

I found it a bit hyperbolic and cringey, and I'm pretty much a Beyonce stan at this point
its terrible. not even the well written kind of glossy, fawning, vapid celeb profile writing. but i never read vogue so no clue if this is normal. cant be though.

this is her new song btw
