i heard his album though - geiom's and it's pretty weedy sounding - dunno what happened there.

i like goth trads stuff as it sounds in the tradition of sakamoto ken ishi etc of constantly evolving rhythmically and melodically dance tracks, it's something japanese electronic producers seem to do, they don't have that specific dub element, they've always got a busy, detailed sound to them.

I'm really feeling it, myself. It's not exactly what I was expecting (Reminiscing isn't on there for a start) and some of the tracks wouldn't feel out of place on an early Skam release, but that's no bad thing imo. It sounds like maybe he's deliberately gone into the more chilled / introspective side of his sound to make it work as an album.

hmm but it just sounds like chill out dubstep to me, not really with much rigour apart from doing dubstep that's more relaxed.
you don't have to make everything chilled out for it to work as an album imo, perhaps more detailed sometimes.

anyone heard 2562 "aerial"? as good as the singles?

Judging by the mix he did for Electronic Explorations it should be an incredible album. There are also some samples up on Boomkat which seem to confirm it.

Hello by the way. I've been lurking here for about 6 months now so I thought it was time to stop being weird and sign up.

not wobblers. lol. more out there stuff, but not 'soft' over ethereal dreamy stuff either plz. not sure if that helps. just whats the 'best' in the scene right now. although if its moving in as many diff directions as i seem to be reading, i might be DLing all sorts of mixes.

it depends what kind of vibe you want i think... in a few words what are you looking for?

Who was first couple of dubstep DJs on before Portable on Friday? Darkstar and Untold? Thought some of that was pretty heavy, was the latest Skull Disco bits etc? Also remember going mental for Neverland and then just as we were leaving someone played Energy Flash and we had to stay and dance...

I just dont know
yeh thats the thing, there are so many vibes at the moment.

i'd definitely recommend checking Martyn's recent mix for Skream's show...

a recent 2562 mix at the end of this show...

Quest at Bomb is probably worth a go too...

Starkey's radio recently has been really interesting, although we may bear witness to some kind of beef over whether he should be in this thread! either way, its heavy music so well worth a listen...

in terms of more uk/dubstep focussed ruffer stuff im a bit stuck, i could do with a few recommendations myself! what i have been missing is that murky pirate vibe...

you really want some kind of hyperdub related one but i can't think of any which do it in a really focussed way

Not seen Tubby in a minute...

What's Geeneus going to be like this Friday? Hopefully he'll play a Funky set rather than the drystep I recall last time. Such a good look for FWD this week's line-up...

yeh Untold first and Darkstar, with a bit of me in between and around. Untold's set was sick, he was the one playing all Skull Disco etc. Darkstar playing a shocking and massive set, i was very surprised by the stuff they were dropping... Mike Dunn, Body Language, Switch plus loads of immense 2-step and grime and a few dubstep bits, they completely rinsed the floor

Headhunter mix on MAH last night is quite interesting, sounds quite different from his other stuff (Sushibrain etc.)- much more reverb/texture to it I suppose, clear basic channel influence.

FWD this friday- Mala and Kode, should be big. I'm going to go against what I've previously screwfaced people for and get completely leathered and ruin it for everyone. Then I'm going to take my shirt off and rub my semi-erect nipple in Ben UFO's face,

if he'll have me...

Do loads of poppers right next to the DJ booth to really rile up the dubstep massive I reckon...

hahaha poppers and ketamine

that Headhunter mix sounded pretty good from what i heard. makes me think of big room minimal techno more than basic channel though, really boshy, tracky and full
