You know it's funny, for the last eight years people in Britain have looked down their noses at America and its Bible-bashing neocon retard of a Pres, but it's pretty likely to be the case in a couple of years' time that a mixed-race Democrat sits in the Oval Office and we have a Tory government again, with a posh ex-Etonian for a Prime Minister. Swings, as they say, and roundabouts...

Yep. There was a rilly dumb Guardian piece a few months back suggesting that a McCain win would prove how racist America is and wouldn't go down well in Europe. You can just imagine all this continent's black PMs and Presidents fuming about that one.

One of my favorite lines republicans use is that "we need to get in there [the middle east] and liberate women from those evil oppressive muslim extremist governments. i thought you feminists cared about women!" Then you look at these evil extremist-led countries and many of them had female leaders *years* before this even seemed a viable fantasy in the U.S.

Yeah, I saw that one - fucking disturbing and pathetic in equal measure (though potentially disastrous if they hadn't been caught) - they were only just out of school themselves, FFS.

Also I couldn't help but chuckle at the phrase "...in the white supremacist community", which makes them sound like some sort of beleaguered minority group. Though of course, this is exactly what they should be, if they're going to exist at all.

Well, after this came out last night, a lot of people were saying, "oh, it was just a couple of 20-year-old neo-nazi morons, they weren't really going to do anything", but I don't know if it's that simple. It only took one crazy person to kill John Lennon, it only took a couple of gunmen to kill JFK, some crazy guy almost killed Reagan right?

You should watch one of those "Lockdown" shows, the jails in the south (and even up north and in the west) are filled with white supremacist morons...

Yeah in the 30s amphetamines were first introduced in Germany and were basically handed out like candy by doctors for every ailment, a la morphine/laudanum in Victorian England and cocaine in U.S. soft-drinks in the early 1900s. Hitler had amphetamines injected into him a couple times a day by a doctor. (And I like myself the speeds but jesus, that would be like getting hit by a truck of jackedupcrazy) The fever pitch of Nazi Germany's "mass hysteria" makes a whole lot more sense when you consider this.

Not at ALL surprised that a Palin would rise up in Alaska. Not just because of the AIP and meth but the fact that it's the state with the highest rates of domestic abuse of women and male-on-female murder. Just makes sense Palin started in that sort of company.

PS If the media were really "liberally" biased they'd be all over the AIP story. But no one's touched it that I've seen.

There must surely be a PhD thesis waiting to be written, if one hasn't been already, on the psychological parallels between radical-evangelical Christianity and the effects of amphetamines - I mean, if you look at what drives white rural/small-town/Midwestern America, it *can't* be a coincidence...

When I was at uni one of my mates did her dissertation on evangelical worship as 'rave'.
